TechBridge Supporters Continue Commitment to Atlanta Habitat

8th Annual Technology Community Habitat for Humanity House Build

April 13, 2012 - Atlanta-based TechBridge, a nonprofit committed to improving our community by helping nonprofits be more impactful through technology, is pleased to announce the construction of its eighth Technology Community Habitat house, in partnership with Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. Eleven corporate sponsors have joined together to continue the annual tradition of building a new home in partnership with a qualified, working Atlanta family. The build will begin on April 19, 2012, following the traditional First Nail Ceremony at the home’s site in southwest Atlanta at 11:30 a.m. A dedication ceremony will take place at noon on Friday, June 1, 2012, to celebrate the project’s completion.

Corporate sponsors of TechBridge’s 2012 Technology Community Build include: CCCi, The Coca-Cola Company, Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta, GE Energy, InterContinental Hotels Group, Landis+Gyr, Southern Company and Teradata Corporation. Each of the 2012 sponsors also participated in the 2011 build, and many of them have supported the TechBridge Habitat project since the first build in 2005.

 

The participating companies have contributed more than $75,000 to build the Technology Community Habitat House and will provide more than 275 volunteers needed to complete the project. Keeping with the theme, as a special gift to the new owners, the home will once again feature a computer equipped with software, generously donated by Microsoft.

James Franklin, TechBridge CEO, shared that many corporations look for opportunities that combine their desire to connect with colleagues with their desire to get out and do something positive for the community. “I am proud that the TechBridge Community Build provides this opportunity to create community among Atlanta’s corporations.
